Profile
Šaran Restaurant Belgrade
Restaurant Šaran embodies the authentic spirit of Zemun and its long-standing connection to the Danube. Over a century ago, fisherman Vicentije Vukotić opened a small tavern on the ground floor of his family home, which quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional fish soup, prepared according to a traditional recipe that is still cherished today.
Located on the right bank of the Danube, this charming house stands out with its distinctive architecture and has, from the very beginning, attracted notable figures from various walks of life. Fishermen were among the first regular guests, bringing freshly caught fish straight from their boats—a tradition that remains a point of pride for Šaran.
Rooted deeply in Danube heritage, the restaurant is renowned for its rich selection of traditional dishes made from freshwater fish. At the same time, Šaran continues to evolve, expanding its menu to include carefully selected seafood and marine delicacies, offering guests the perfect balance between tradition, freshness, and modern culinary excellence.
