Algiubagio Restaurant Venice
The Restaurant
Algiubagio welcomes guests into a refined and elegant setting where every detail is carefully curated, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere that invites relaxation and enjoyment.
Situated in the northern area of Venice, close to the departures for the lagoon islands, the restaurant offers a unique experience enhanced by its panoramic terrace.
During the warmer months, guests can dine outdoors while admiring breathtaking views over the Venice Lagoon, a serene and timeless backdrop that perfectly complements the cuisine.
A Story Rooted in Tradition
The restaurant has been family-run since 1950, beginning its journey as a modest Venetian tavern. In those early days, locals gathered here to share a glass of wine, exchange conversations, and enjoy the simple pleasures of daily life. Despite its evolution, Algiubagio has always remained a beloved meeting place for Venetians.
Over the decades, the venue transformed along with the city. From a traditional tavern to a neighborhood bar frequented by residents arriving from Burano, it gradually embraced change while preserving its authentic soul.
A major renovation in the early 1990s redefined the space, blending contemporary design with the original 17th-century architectural elements.
In the late 1990s, Algiubagio returned to its culinary roots with the opening of the restaurant as it is known today. The addition of a charming terrace overlooking the northern lagoon completed its transformation, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy refined dishes in a peaceful setting.
From here, the journey continues naturally toward Murano, Burano, Sant’Erasmo, or Torcello—making Algiubagio not only a destination, but a gateway to the lagoon itself.
